Service Description

Although the plant is no longer operational and is currently being decommissioned, it remains an important historical and industrial landmark that continues to attract visitors. Today, one of the most complex environmental projects in Lithuania – and possibly in the entire Baltic region – is being implemented here. Come and see this megaproject up close! The guided expeditions offered at this former Lithuanian nuclear power plant are not your typical tour. They are in-depth, educational, and immersive walks through the plant’s facilities and grounds, providing a rare opportunity to explore Lithuania’s nuclear energy legacy, observe the decommissioning process first hand, and glimpse the vision for the future of nuclear power. Important information: ✔️Expeditions are organised on Thursdays and Fridays, in Lithuanian, English or Russian. ✔️There is only one expedition per day. For example, if the "Expedition to the future of the INPP" is booked, there are no other expeditions that day. ✔️Only persons over the age of 18 are allowed on all expeditions, and the maximum number of people in a group is 15. THE ROUTES: GRAND EXPEDITION INTO NUCLEAR TRANSFORMATION Start: 9:00 Duration: one working day Price: 85 per person We invite you to spend a day at Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, taking on the role of a member of the atomic team while visiting unique and, in some cases, never-before-seen spaces. Experience and see this megaproject with your own eyes, make sure that all work is carried out safely and responsibly, and get answers to all your questions. This expedition combines the short and quick expedition routes, so we will spend the whole day in unique places - the temporary spent fuel storage facility, the turbine hall, the fuel cooling pool, the reactor control room, etc., stopping for a quick lunch in the unique Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant canteen. A SHORT EXPEDITION TO THE ATOMIC PAST Start: 9:30 Duration: 3-4 hours Price: 70 per person We will be exploring the controlled territory of the plant, so you will have the chance to see what the impressive spaces and machinery looked like and how they worked, and the first thing we will have to do is dress up in real, snow-white worker's clothes. We will visit the turbine hall, the fuel cooling pool, the reactor control room to discuss the specifics of how the reactors are operated, and the nuances of liquid radioactive waste management by visiting the waste management complex.
